The 15 best places for afternoon tea service in Los Angeles Los Angeles Times

Regal and enigmatic, but also kind and slyly mischievous, she strikes a singular presence. She has an extraordinary head of undulating silver hair, like ripples in a pond on a sweltering day when the air above also shimmers in waves. She has many on-the-spot inquiries for servers and owners — about how much oil the kitchen uses for the crispy rice, about where in Iran the owner is from and how long she’s been in America, about the proper consistency of ab-goosht (more on that later). People readily answer the questions; her stately, inquiring disposition usually prompts a few questions of their own. We both wanted to better grasp the city’s Iranian American culture by scaling mountain after saffron-peaked mountain of rice, wading through every possible herbaceous stew and devouring as many different kinds of kebabs as we could find.

Afternoon tea also proves a wonderful social occasion for the sober community. As Gen Z showcases a much different relationship to alcohol, and members of older generations rethink their own relationship to drinking, gatherings that aren’t centered around booze have gained traction. Almost any traditional afternoon tea menu includes the option to add bubbles, if desired, but it’s an afterthought — the tea will always be the focus. And despite being very busy we got great service from our waitress Jenny. She was very courteous and quick with refills even though it looked like she was the only one taking care of the whole place.

Take-Out/Delivery Options

The shop is small, with only a bit of counter space inside, but a spacious and pet-friendly patio makes for a good place to get work done, catch up with friends or make eyes at your neighbor. Street parking can be tough to find, but bike racks abound for two-wheeled commuters. From lavender-flavored lattes to single-origin pour-overs, here are our favorite coffee shops across L.A. The successful product of an online crowdfunding campaign, this cozy Compton-based café and organic coffee roaster sells excellent coffee, tea and vegan pastries, plus a small array of beautiful plants. An eclectic mix of art dots the walls of Patria Coffee, which features a handful of indoor seats and a few patio tables on the grass outside.

If you live closer to Glendale than to Irvine, this handsomely spare restaurant is your destination for dizi; the version here brings the lamb-rich umami depth, a truth noted in a 2016 review by Jonathan Gold. Some versions age for a decade or more to be spreadable like cheese; this one was young, but its intensity sliced straight through the stew’s meatiness. As a contrast to the stew, sturgeon over dilled rice is terrific in its simplicity. Tehrangeles, as the Westwood-based community has long been nicknamed, began to take shape in the 1960s; it mushroomed with the newcomers who fled Iran in response to the country’s scarring 1979 revolution. The two Attari restaurants reside on a block that received an official designation as “Persian Square” by Los Angeles in 2010, an acknowledgment of how deep the local Iranian American roots have reached.

Yet the more Helou and I ate, the more distinct every restaurant became. We could discern the precise seasoning of the meats (and lack thereof), or the exact thickness of the yogurt dips, or the hoped-for weightlessness of the rice; exceptional specialties leaped out to us. Restaurant critic Bill Addison pinpoints seven recent reviews, from a carnitas food truck to a tiny Japanese wonder, that illustrate the city’s amazing dining culture.

Each bag of beans, as well as the beans used for individual drip coffee and cold brew drinks, are roasted on-site by Coffee De Mundo for maximum freshness. Choose from oat or almond milk in your daily roast of the day, or opt for a country-specific cold brew to taste the unique flavors in each blend. The shop also makes vegan Thai tea, Mexican café de olla and Vietnamese coffee—a boon for anyone that’s lactose intolerant. Named after a competitive French cycling term, this small bike-friendly coffee shop in Culver City offers excellent breakfast burritos, market-priced single-origin matcha and a deep commitment to the surrounding community. Hyper curated and hyper technical, Highland Park's Kumquat Coffee is a caffeine lover's paradise.

Leading L.A. vegan restaurant goes un-vegan. ‘I knew the vitriol that would come my way’

This Leimert Park coffee shop serves toasts, smoothies, coffee and tea, with high-quality beans sourced from the Ethiopian province of Sidamo. It also doubles as an art gallery and community space; you’ll find artwork by new Black artists all over the walls and occasional panels hosting musicians, influencers and other creatives. Next door is Harun Intl, a retail and online shop that sells Harun-branded streetwear, bags of house coffee beans and other items curated by co-owner Chace Johnson, a former music industry executive. With fresh, affordable and healthy food is one of the key goals of South LA Cafe, but that’s only a part of its overall mission. Owned by Celia and Joe-Ward Wallace, the coffee shop serves as a community events space and free grocery distribution hub.

Harun Coffee

Part coffee shop, part subscription service, Dayglow is all about showcasing its favorite independent and up-and-coming roasters from around the world. You can find them stashed in the monthly coffee boxes, or drop by either the Silver Lake or West Hollywood locations for a full espresso menu, neon-lit settings and, of course, whatever the daily selection of these faves might be. Expect tonics and canned coffees and bubbly shrub sodas in addition to every classic coffee drink you could want, as well as home equipment, trendy merch and pastries. Tourists and Westsiders might wait in long lines at Intelligentsia up the street, but Silver Lake locals prefer Cafecito, the quieter shop up on Hoover. Here you’ll find less pretension and more privacy, not to mention an ethos that's all about sustainability and social justice.

This spacious and stylish coffee destination is busy no matter the time of day—no surprise, seeing as it’s one of Highland Park’s top shops to grab a cup and a croissant, now with a second location in Downtown L.A.'s Fashion District. The original location's tall ceilings, tiled floors and diverse seating options spread between tables, couches and a patio out back make for a fashionable setting, while the toasts, breakfast burritos, and Sugarbloom Bakery pastries make for a solid meal. The espresso blend rotates frequently, but teas and specialty coffee drinks remain more or less the same. We love the Figueroa, made with sweetened condensed milk, espresso, milk and cinnamon, topped with a Maria Cookie.

Locations are available for takeout and online pre-order. Go Get Em Tiger is the growing coffee empire by Kyle Glanville and Charles Babinski, a duo whose original G&B Coffee stall just so happens to be its own staple at Grand Central Market. With eight locations currently running throughout the city, Go Get Em Tiger has fast become a hometown chain with consistency, but with enough charm and nuance at each outpost to keep things fresh.

No matter which location you visit, the beans at Boy & the Bear get roasted three times a week, which makes a major difference in the quality of each cup. All four cafés also have Wi-Fi, charging outlets and at least a few couches, and the Redondo Beach flagship has the most space and outdoor seating. Proudly Black and Latino-owned, this small, fully vegan South L.A. Coffee and retail shop offers a highly curated array of specialty coffee beans sourced from small farms all over the word.

This is Far East Plaza’s stripped-down espresso stop that fuels you with meticulously measured pulls from Drop Coffee Roasters and Sey Coffee beans, and offers a number of creative caffeinated options in a sleek, minimalist setting. Named for the endangered gorilla native to Rwanda and Uganda, this excellent Echo Park café and roaster was founded by Jack Karuletwa, a displaced member of the Tutsi. Today, Karuletwa’s Silverback Coffee now supports small coffee farmers, several rebuilding-oriented nonprofits and wildlife conservation efforts in his home country.

The food court of this Irvine grocery store serves kebabs and fragrant stews (and also pastas, shawarma and crepes) to a clamoring lunchtime crowd. The market’s true glory, though, is sangak, an Iranian whole-wheat flatbread freckled with sesame seeds; Helou has seen it baked over beds of stones. (Its name translates as “pebbles.”) A line usually forms for the charred, soft-crisp, 4-foot loaves. We draped ours over the front of a shopping cart and ripped off blistering hunks while we wandered the aisles — and we weren’t the only shoppers doing that. Many of the stews we sampled during our trek tasted one-dimensional, but a bowl of ghormeh sabzi (beef, kidney beans and herbs) had a whole dried lime animating the dish with its unique, musky-pungent sourness.

In addition to its noble mission, the café itself is large, airy and full of indoor seating—the perfect Eastside-ish spot for a well-made cup of specialty coffee. Silverback Coffee also features an extensive milk-based drink assortment, an array of sweeter, dessert-like drinks and a food menu of breakfast fare and pastries. This takeaway-oriented neighborhood spot off San Vicente does, in fact, make some damn good coffee. Run by Joshua Mock (of the now-closed Little Amsterdam Coffee), Dam Good Coffee offers a brief, but satisfying menu of espresso-based drinks, hot and iced tea, lemonade and even a few affordably priced toasts and pastries. Add-ons like chaga, a superb dirty chai latte and friendly, efficient staff make this Mid-City café a must-go for locals in the area—and anyone else passing through.

ByteCMS is the data-focused, design-driven content management system that connects visitors to goals, minds to messaging and site managers to site intelligence. At the same time, many apps have a series of pages, like an About and History page, say, and those need to be content managed and pushed to devices when possible. We'll create the content management system that controls the content and features of the app. Most apps start with useful data, be it a list of locations or updated content.

We also work through accessibility issues to make the site easy to use via non-mouse or touch interfaces. Data is an integral part of a mobile app, and we'll need to identify any data sources. We spend more time than most web design firms getting to know the context our client works within. We look at hundreds of comparative websites and we start to find patterns in language, communication, design and function. We often look at what we'd consider competitors which could be direct competitors or mindshare competitors to help ensure we don't fall into the same systems or patterns. And we look at industry leaders to help know the landscape and to understand and promote what makes our client special and different. Our Milwaukee based web design team is driven by our completely custom website design and development process.

If you’re a business owner that wants to take your WordPress website to the next level, consider a WordPress agency near Milwaukee, WI. Build a profitable e-commerce store with an industry-leading WooCommerce design and development partner in Milwaukee, WI. Engage with us at any stage of the process, ensuring a stunning, user-friendly website built on WordPress.

We apply a design and brand theme based on the company's current one, or we develop a unique brand and apply that to the navigations and usage tools along with proper "UI" elements like form input boxes and submit buttons. It's common for us at Byte to experiment with ideas by using mini-apps built just to solve parts of the bigger application. Each of these proof-of-concepts is able to be tested for accuracy and usability. While these are technically "throwaway" applications, we're going to recode the entire system once we know it all works, they're highly valuable to help everyone understand a mobile app's data and content needs. We need to get a sense of the data and process that a mobile app will be a part of. Mobile apps don't tend to need too much in terms of content and assets, but brand and image assets will help differentiate and illustrate the mobile app.

24 Best Coffee Shops in Los Angeles

Brunch, when omelettes and French toast galore get shuttled out of the kitchen to chic Valley dwellers. This Long Beach coffee roaster and café is proudly queer Black- and Latina-owned—the product of two women who left corporate jobs to provide fresh, high-quality coffee to every kitchen and increase the visibility of women of color in the specialty coffee industry. While the fully plant-based coffee shop is only open on Sundays for now, Scary Good Coffee also sells bags of single-origin specialty coffee and house blends every day of the week online. The Playa Vista coffee stand features plenty of open-air and outdoor seating, while the larger Santa Monica outpost sports a more modern look with plenty of indoor tables. This charming Historic Filipinotown café offers all-day fare that's worth lingering over—already an easy feat, given the free Wi-Fi and creative coffee there, too.

Neighborhood Coffee & Tea

In Inglewood, gentrification and a post-SoFi stadium sea change in the community makeup remain ongoing points of contention and debate. Bridging the gap is Inglewood’s Sip & Sonder, a Black woman-owned cafe that opened in 2017, with a second Downtown outpost at the Music Center. Owners Shanita Nicholas and Amanda-Jane Thomas, who previously worked in law, chose their cafe’s location carefully, intending to represent their community and fill a gap in Inglewood’s neighborhood coffee needs. The cafe also doubles as a recording studio and local event space. Know of or already love and support a Black-owned coffee shop in L.A. In a city full of amazing coffee shops, L.A.’s Black-owned cafés stand out from the rest for a couple of few distinct reasons. In addition to brewing high-quality java, many of them explicitly center on Blackness and L.A.’s Black community. Some serve as art galleries and local event spaces, and others regularly partner with local and international nonprofits to further give back. Others are more straightforward operations dedicated to crafting your daily cup of joe—with one that even doubles as an excellent delivery service in Downtown L.A. Do you live within delivery distance of Downtown L.A.? Boketto Cold Brews wants to bring you or your office an excellent cup (or keg) of cold brew nitro coffee and tea. Settle in at the best coffee shops in Los Angeles

The sandwich shop, with its signatures such as thinly sliced beef tongue with pickles on a soft French roll, is a Westwood mainstay. But the next-door grill has a more comfortable setting and a handful of distinguishing specialties, including sabzi polo mahi (fried trout with herbed rice), a vision of greenness that’s traditionally served at Nowruz, the Persian New Year celebrated in the spring. Helou pointed out that even the walnut halves on a side plate of herbs had been soaked to properly revive them. Staff are down to earth and the food is excellent.

Attari Sandwich Shop/Attari Grill

The shop carries unique home goods, personal accessories and (of course) a few crystals, with a colorful exterior floral display that brightens up its busy traffic-prone stretch of Lincoln Boulevard every day of the week. Of course, Flowerboy Project’s simple drink menu incorporates florals, with excellent lavender and rose lattes that would change any skeptic’s opinion about consuming flowers. Well for Mad Lab, one of Downtown's top roasters, the name says it all. At the Hollywood window, simply stroll up and order from the menu or let whoever's behind the counter whip something up special for you while you nosh on fresh Clark Street pastries. Is a city constantly on the move, even if it's only at a glacial pace on the freeway. Coffee, and lots of it, preferably paired with a quick breather at one of the city's best coffee shops.

Whether it’s paired with a fantastic brunch or enjoyed as midday break from work, a good java spot is as necessary for Angelenos a solid neighborhood taco stand. Tea, not coffee, is the focus of this family-owned Inglewood café with a charming patio and plenty of indoor seating. Though you’ll still find "the other drink" on the menu, Mingles offers over two dozen loose leaf varieties, including several caffeine-free herbal blends, with staff members happy to educate patrons about the health benefits and nuanced flavors of tea. Dessert, of course, is also on Mingles’ menu, from coffee cake and peach cobbler to danishes and brownies. Monthly tea tastings and retail bags of loose leaf tea and tea-making accessories make this café the perfect stop for those trying to wean themselves off java, or anyone who just loves a good cup of tea.

Cognoscenti Coffee

I had a ham and cheese omelette that was out of this world! Please visit the locations link below to choose your store. I was on the lookout for a superlative version of kuku sabzi, an herb-dense egg dish similar to a frittata that’s also a requisite at Nowruz. I didn’t find my ideal, honestly, but the one at Attari came the closest. The kebabs are solid, the donbalan being the front runner. Our soft-spoken, septuagenarian server blushed when we asked him to translate that word; Helou immediately understood it was lamb’s testicles when she saw his embarrassment.

Koobideh kebabs — an Iranian classic of ground meat shaped with distinctive finger-width indentations — were the comparative standard Helou and I ordered from restaurant to restaurant. The exemplar at Taste of Tehran showed a master’s touch, the grated onion in the tender-singed beef added in just the right proportions, every bite vibrantly seasoned. Same for the still-rosy filet shish kebab and the lemony grilled chicken. Mast-o-khiar (yogurt mixed with chopped cucumber and mint) and mast-o-mousir (yogurt with shallot; amazing with the fluffy rice and kebabs) found a silky medium, neither gluey nor watery like so many versions we encountered. With the perfume of meats grilled over charcoal clinging to our clothes, we ranked our five favorite local Iranian restaurants. When dining out, I tend to take experiences at face value and gather context later; Helou is the opposite.

In 2018, Yonnie Hagos and Ajay Relan first opened in the historically Black neighborhood of View Park-Windsor Hills, hoping to help locals connect, caffeinate and continue the climb towards success. Since then, after being featured on HBO's Insecure, the coffee shop is now backed by showrunner Issa Rae, who's helped Hilltop expand to Inglewood, Eagle Rock and Downtown. And Eagle Rock locations have plenty of tables and a few charging outlets apiece, while the Inglewood shop’s lofted couch seating is more conducive to casual morning or afternoon hangs. Powdery beignets and weekend-only waffles round out the café’s food offerings, which are substantial enough for a full-on meal. Locations have plenty of tables and a few charging outlets apiece, but the Inglewood shop’s lofted couch seating are more optimal for casual morning or afternoon hangs.

Small-batch, seasonal pastries like passion fruit pie with graham cracker crust; pecan and caramel coffee cake; and blackberry rhubarb galettes are so good you won't want to share, and go great with pour-over coffee and specials like vanilla-and-orange cappuccinos. A casual menu of rice bowls, breakfast sandwiches and toasts should do the trick, and if you want to bring the magic home, Doubting Thomas has its own blend of beans—as well as house-made concentrates for matcha, chai and beyond—which you can buy on-site. For caffeine purists, we've also included more minimalist spots that will happily sate any coffee nerd. To help you find the perfect brew, we’ve sipped our way through the best spots in town—check out our guide, refuel and get back out there. Equal parts coffee, flower and gift shop, this laidback Venice café offers Westside locals gorgeous floral arrangements with a side of coffee.

Elevate Your Home with Luxury Chandeliers: The Finest in Modern Indoor Lighting

scandinavian design lamps

The lamp’s sculptural design is striking, bearing several unique details, such as its specially designed joints. A trip to the traditional Japanese Washi papermakers inspired Norm Architects to create the Hashira Collection for Audo Copenhagen. One can’t fail to notice the fusion of elegant Japanese traditions with the simple and pared back Scandinavian design language.

Let’s take a deep dive into Scandinavian lighting, the brands to know, and the best Scandinavian lamps to buy:

17 // The Vinge table lamp from Örsjo Belysning is a trendy and ingenious lamp in a sleek design designed by Note Design Studio. The lamp stands out with its cool dimmer in shape of a wing in solid brass which is rotatable 180 degrees. You can adjust the brightness of the light and therefore it´s perfect both as a table lamp and bedside lamp. Ever since they have maintained the original concept but are constantly seeking to develop within modern times. Warm Nordic features both a classic collection and a contemporary collection. Together the two collections illuminate the quality of Scandinavian design and its independence from time and generations.

Distinctive in form and appearance, the base and oval shade merge seamlessly together to form one single unit. 12 // The Beam table lamp from Muuto is a versatile lamp with a modern expression and intuitive user-friendliness. With light shone from both ends of a cylinder shape, the user can choose between three different volumes of light and gradually alter the volume of light emitted in each end through the turn of a playful dial. The lamp can be altered for any position with its rotating base and sleek body, whether it be as direct lighting or for an ambient glow. We are only able to ship products when available in your nearest Distribution Center (DC).

This color temperature not only emits a gentle and comforting glow but also harmonizes beautifully with the cool, muted color palette often found in Nordic interiors. Focusing on modernist design principles, Massproductions has become an avatar for the future of Swedish design. The brand, which launched in 2009, has control of their entire supply chain, from production to distribution, and therefore present a fully-realized vision. Known as the “benchmark of Swedish design,” Fogia has been around since the 80s, but became its current iteration in 2011 under new ownership. The brand both designs and produces in their own factory in Gdansk, Poland.

We invite you to shop our collated selection—where every chair, table, and decor piece holds the potential for a story—as you craft and curate your personal getaway.

Handcrafted Wooden Pendant Light in Walnut Finish - Scandinavian Style

Possibly because of the long and dark winters of the North, lighting has a very special place in our hearts. In Finland, we like to let the light shine throughout the house, but we also enjoy turning off the main lights and switching on smaller mood lighting for a cozy vibe. By choosing from our diverse selection of Nordic lights, you can bring a little of that comfortable Northern ambience to your living spaces. The Translucent Glass Lamp features a clear base crafted from recycled glass. The organic shape of the base lends this piece an airy sense of biotic elegance.

Fitness Memberships Monroeville

The increasing population of white, college-educated voters in the state's Research Triangle continues to make the state competitive. But Republicans have won it in all but one presidential election since 1976. We are always looking for energetic and service-oriented individuals that want to be part of a team that is building a great community.

Sports Themed

"We're pleased to offer our facilities as an alternative venue for events affected by the Convention Center's closure," said Kelsey Mercuri, the customer experience manager. "Our goal is to support the community and provide continuity for event promoters and attendees."

Negotiations at Columbia University unstable, organizers say

The California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt campus will remain closed through the weekend as protesters, including "unidentified non-students," continue to occupy two buildings, school officials said in an update. Bring your team to train at the best sports facility in Pittsburgh -  ALL AMERICAN+ Field House. Long-term rentals and short-term rentals for your teams and groups are available. The Los Angeles Police Department arrested approximately 50 protestors at the University of Southern California after campus police gave a dispersal order to demonstrators, according to a CNN crew at the scene.

While North Carolina was also close in 2020 — within 2 points — given its history of voting Republican, it begins the cycle in the Lean Republican category. Democrats feel the gubernatorial race in the state could help them, as Republicans nominated a highly controversial candidate, who could turn off swing voters. But the toss up states are expected to be close, within just a few points, in either candidate's direction.

Where Community, Food + Sport Meet

The university "supports free speech through open dialogue that is respectful and constructive," the officials said. Graffiti described as “hateful” has been painted on campus, the officials said. Student reactions to calls for the college president's resignation have been mixed, Karam said. House Speaker Mike Johnson called Wednesday for the resignation of the university’s president if she can't "bring order to this chaos."

Train Like an All American+

Latinos, Black voters and young voters all view the economy negatively. Majorities overall disapprove of Biden's handling of the economy and more voters say they think the economy was better under Trump. Biden is trying to make up ground there with younger voters and Black voters, groups he's lagging with. Trump and groups supporting him have spent only about $700,000 in Pennsylvania in that same time frame. To better understand the landscape for the presidential election with a little more than six months to go, here is our initial Electoral Vote map of the cycle.

To this point, the Biden campaign has spent almost nothing in ads on the state and the polling has, to this point, shown Trump well ahead. The industrial Midwest has moved more toward Republicans because of the shift toward the GOP among white voters without college degrees. That's why states like Ohio and Iowa, which were competitive for decades until the Trump era, are no longer Democratic targets. The Blue Wall states are home to significant shares of white, working-class voters, but Biden has retained strong support with unions. Democrats are also putting in significant efforts, especially in Wisconsin, to reach Black voters and be on college campuses.

America’s Track & Field Stadiums: Oregon

This year's election is also going to be different from 2020 in a very big way. Because of the pandemic, mail-in voting was used widely and that contributed heavily to increased turnout. In 2020, 66% of registered voters cast ballots, the highest since 1900. Combined with the increasing Latino and Asian American population and a remigration to the South of young Black voters, particularly in Georgia, that has meant a reshaping of the electoral map.

All three states have significant Black populations and multiple colleges and universities. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been pulling double digits in polling, and it's not totally clear which side he pulls most from. Polls have shown him pulling evenly, some have shown him pulling more from Trump, others more from Biden.

A photographer was among those arrested during clashes between protesters and law enforcement on the University of Texas at Austin campus on Wednesday. Other buildings on the campus in Arcata are at risk of being occupied, and protesters “have shown a willingness” to lock themselves in facilities and steal equipment, the officials said. Work and classes will remain remote, and officials are considering keeping the campus closed for longer.

In addition to personnel, ads are the largest expenditure of a presidential campaign. Mercuri said the facility has over 100,000 square feet of rentable space and can accommodate several events. She said they are in talks with Visit Monroeville to see if event organizers will utilize their space. Ever since CADENCE+ Clubhouse was launched late November 2020 in North Park, it has encouraged the gathering of people passionate about life, health, family and fun. Now we're bringing our delicious Clubhouse food and engaging, family-friendly atmosphere to the ALL AMERICAN+ Field House in Monroeville. The ALL AMERICAN+ Field House is a state-of-the-art, 170,000 square-foot facility, with an astonishing four acres of indoor fun, and an additional one acre outdoors, the largest in Western Pennsylvania.

If you like working in a sports facility environment with health and fitness conscious customers, please contact us with your area of expertise and a little about what makes you unique, and we'll forward it to the right department. The Social Studio PGH was started by a small but mighty group of creatives who have a passion for social media and selfies. Social Studios is an aesthetically pleasing fun-house to capture ideal photos, with many backdrops to curate your perfect shots! From selfies, team or sports pics, birthday parties, graduation photos, and even product shots, our space is open to anyone with a phone or camera to capture that insta-worthy picture.

Adding the CADENCE+ restaurants and concessions to the venue allows us to offer high-quality events, food, and training in the heart of Monroeville, Pennsylvania. Our mission is to connect communities by offering exceptional spaces for people to come together for food, drink, and sport, enjoying the great indoors and outdoors. Visit Monroeville markets the Monroeville Convention Center, hotels, and other indoor and outdoor venues in the area to promote the region as a low-cost, high-quality location for trade shows, conventions, entertainment, and sporting events. The convention center's owner, Oxford Development, announced earlier this week that the center would become a Hobby Lobby. This sent several organizers scrambling, as Oxford Development canceled events scheduled after June 1 with the announcement.

With different levels of memberships now available for all fitness levels and all ages, this stunning new facility offers a place to achieve your fitness goals, through personal training, sports performance training, weight lifting, classes, and more. ALL AMERICAN+ Field House and the PRO+SPORTS facility have a place for every athlete to train and become the best version of themselves on and off the field. We have sports and training for every athlete no matter what sport they play. With five acres of courts, turf, and more, ALL AMERICAN+ is one of the largest sports complexes in the Pittsburgh area, with thousands of young athletes who participate in our club sports on a regular basis. Our motto, Game Ready ... Life Ready reflects our commitment to not just sport, but to skills needed to be successful in life. Our mission is to develop the whole person, 360 degrees, including mind, body, and spirit through our innovative life skills programs through the non-profit 360+ program.

It's also because of the continued shift with college-educated white voters toward Democrats. In 2020, Trump won college-educated white men by 3 points in 2020, according to exit polls, but the latest NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll showed Biden winning the group by more than 20 points. But they are declining as a share of the population and of the electorate.

He has taught Illustration & drawing at De Anza College, Academy of Art University, California College of Arts and Crafts, and holds a vocational teaching certicate from the State of California. I’ve kept every sketchbook, starting with ArtCenter sketchbooks since I was about 18, many of which were purchased from the campus bookstore. There are few feelings more gratifying than digging through the crates of your past, finding an ancient sketchbook, and unearthing an idea you can still put to good use today. I’ve been told that my work is redolent of an imagined America. I’m not nostalgic for the 1930s, and certainly not the 1950s. Midcentury style is certainly back in vogue; that’s hard to deny.

Perhaps it’s due to a collective yearning for a purportedly simpler time. I have no idea where my inspiration comes from. When left to my own devices, I simply refer to my sketchbooks.

Mattos Monuments Services

It all goes back to my ArtCenter sketchbooks. Whenever I take on a new project and I can solve it by simply cracking open an ArtCenter sketchbook and having that light bulb turn on over my head, I know I’m on the right path. Next came the thoroughly enjoyable task of selecting diverse Bay Area landmarks and making a reasonable composition.

MATTOS MONUMENTS

I usually create a unified and complete black and white template sketch at this point but since this client knows how I work and that I’ll meet their deadline, we took a more relaxed improvisational approach. Partially finished diagrams with callouts and collage were emailed with various sarcastic cracks and suggestions back and forth. The final art is executed in Adobe Illustrator so that no quality is lost when used at various sizes. I have a long, ongoing relationship with the excellent in house design dept. at BART (and their Art Consultant). After trading a few jokes and insults by phone, I provided them with 3 color sketches via email. Drawing is ultimately a way of seeing, one that’s related to reading in that it involves slow, cumulative absorption and study. We create monuments, headstones, & memorials throughout our Hayward community and the greater San Francisco Bay area. Review the list of California communities & cities we service.

Create possibilities for students at ArtCenter and amplify their impact on the world.

A lot of prestigious art schools don’t teach such seemingly rudimentary things. They assume the students have mastered this already, even if they haven’t. ArtCenter understands that one cannot paint a masterful portrait without first understanding the fundamentals. Seeing means truly understanding what you are looking at – and not only understanding it, but also interpreting it.

Not a day goes by that I don’t think about the things that I learned in my ArtCenter core classes, which were really about teaching students the nuts-and-bolts essentials of their discipline. It is ultimately a way of seeing, one that’s related to reading in that it involves cumulative absorption and study. If you find yourself lost, one missing detail can snap everything back into focus. ArtCenter teaches you, quite simply, the fundamentals of seeing as it relates to drawing.

Karine Jean-Pierres Unlikely Rise to the White House Lectern The New York Times

And in five areas, we will have significant, substantive deliverables in food, health, in climate, in economic growth, and on migration. That said, we will continue, as I said, monitor any threats to our elections if they arise and work as a cohesive, coherent interagency to get relevant information to the election officials and workers on the ground. The President is looking forward to celebrating this Festival of Lights here at the White House along with millions of Americans who observe this sacred holiday and who have made it an important part of American culture.

She's leaving the podium after 244 briefings sparring with reporters. Raised in New York, Jean-Pierre was born in Martinique and went to Columbia University. Throughout her career she has bounced between Democratic political campaigns and left-leaning organizations. "Jen Psaki has set the standard for returning decency, respect and decorum to the White House Briefing Room," said Biden in the statement.

It is fortunate in many areas that the vast, vast majority, if not all of the people, who are going to hospitals — are unvaccinated — not in every community; it depends community to community. So that’s why we are also continuing to echo and advocate for people to get vaccinated, to get boosted to protect themselves. That’s the most important step they can take. She has often said she regrets once getting a stern letter of reprimand from a government ethics watchdog for politicking from the podium. Psaki is being succeeded by her deputy, Karine Jean-Pierre, who now becomes the first Black and openly gay woman to hold the job.

Every day that the Senate fails to send assault weapons ban to the President’s desk or waits to take another — other commonsense actions is a day too late for our families and communities impacted by gun violence. In addition to that, today marks a critical step towards free and fair elections, and, of course, we were able to deliver the first shipment of U.S. government nonlethal equipment to the Haitian National Police to bolster their capabilities.

Biden administration

De facto White House communications chief Anita Dunn, 66, the wife of Biden personal attorney Bob Bauer, told colleagues she had decided to call in prominent Democrats to explain to Jean-Pierre, 49, that the time was ripe to move on, sources told The Post. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki returned to the White House briefing room following a two-week absence due to a COVID diagnosis. The White House announced Friday a new $3.75 billion military assistance package to help Ukraine and its neighbors on NATO's eastern flank as Russia's invasion of Ukraine grinds on. As for the status of negotiations, as I said earlier, I mean, for us, this is still an active effort. And we’re waiting to see what they do about it.

Psaki described Jean-Pierre as a "longtime adviser" to Biden and his wife, Jill, having worked with both during the Obama administration. Jean-Pierre, who had served as Psaki's chief deputy, is the first Black woman and first openly LGBTQ person to hold the top position. Opt in to send and receive text messages from President Biden.

And that’s why we’re so committed to providing the necessary equipment and tools to the Ukrainians to be able to resist Russian advances in where they can push them back. We’re concerned by every act of aggression the Russians have undertaken, every inch of Ukrainian territory they sit upon, they wreck, they bomb, they destroy, both in the areas they’re moving on the ground and in the areas they’re raining missiles down on from afar. So, the notion that there is somehow, you know, signs of cracking or division or disunity, I think, is belied by what we’re actually seeing. And I think that both the G7 and NATO will be very impressive signs of strength and resolve. So I don’t — I don’t see the kind of formal press conference issue as a particular litmus test.

We’re going to contem- — continue to do that. We’re implementing, as you know, the — the first-ever National Strategic Effort to Counter Antisemitism because there should be no place in this country in — when it relates to that type of hate. And, of course, in the immediate aftermath of it, he picked up the phone and called Bibi Netanyahu. And what we have seen since then, as I was speaking about before with respect to the provision and facilitation of humanitarian assistance, has been a significant difference. But the administration will be well represented at that event.

Now, with respect to the news from the United Kingdom today, as you all know, it’s protocol for the President to wait until after an incoming British prime minister has met with the monarch and been invited to form a new government to offer his congratulations. But President Biden looks forward to speaking with Minister Suno- — Sunak in the upcoming days and — and to our continued close cooperation with the United Kingdom. There is no military solution to this conflict.

So the substantive work of the summit has in no way, shape, or form been touched or adjusted or reduced by the participation question. These two things are operating in entirely distinct lanes. And on top of that, we will be putting specific dollars into producing tangible results that matter to people — training 500,000 workers, mobilizing hundreds of billions of dollars on food security.

And so, look, we’re going to continue to stay steadfast on that. But what the President truly believes — and he has said this himself; you heard him say this last Thursday — is we have to “do something.”  And that is the two words that he heard from the families in Uvalde, who — parents who lost their children in a horrific, horrific mass shooting. We don’t — we don’t need a bunch of speeches today on crime; we need state officials to — and Congress to move. So, he sees those things hand in hand as we talk about gun reform as well. From our perspective, we have to view these on separate tracks, and that’s how we’re going to proceed.

I started by connecting my domain and installed WordPress (keep in mind that you need a web host for all of this). WordPress offers seemingly countless themes you can use for free (and many more that cost around $100 each). I went with the basic Twenty Twenty-Four theme for testing purposes, but I suggest choosing one that’s tried and true (like Astra). In fact, I’d say Wix is probably the best option for restaurants and hotels that need a website because it includes specific features for these types of businesses. As far as the standard extras that I typically look for in a website builder, Wix offers almost all of them. I could easily add meta descriptions and titles and there’s built-in email marketing included in all paid plans. However, if you want to build a professional business website, we recommend upgrading to a paid plan. Starting at just $4.99 per month, these premium hosting plans include advanced features such as Cloudflare Railgun, which can help speed up your site and deliver a smoother user experience. This can be attributed to great site design, and proper marketing, bundled with great products or services.

On IONOS’ Pro plan, you can create personalized content for specific visitors. So, first-time visitors will see something different than return visitors. Or you can set it up to display content differently based on sales, holidays or other specific events. While your free web hosting platform might not be perfect, it can be a viable option in some scenarios.

Also, because Wix is so robust, its administrative section has a ton of menus, which can be overwhelming. For any business-related website, reliability (it doesn’t go down, or uptime is as close to 100% as possible) is crucial. I played around a little with IONOS’ AI tools and it works similarly to other site builders’ AI. I used different tones and chose the wording that best fit my site, but in the end, I edited it so much that I probably should’ve just written my descriptions from scratch to start. I easily added a couple of plugins that are free to use to my site editor. With the vertical divider, I changed the look of my site and the text animation app let me create fun text blocks on my site. Weebly gets the top spot for one of the best website builders because of its low cost, flexibility and ease of use. And as we have made clear directly to the relevant parties in recent days, those who commit atrocities will be held accountable. Jean-Pierre’s predecessor, Jen Psaki, was press secretary for one week shy of 16 months before leaving to take a job as a host and analyst at MSNBC. "You have debated me. And at times we have disagreed. That is democracy in action. That is it working," she said. "Without accountability, without debate, government is not as strong. And you all play an incredibly pivotal role, thank you for what you do. Thank you for making me better. And most importantly, thank you for the work every day you do to make this country stronger." Outgoing White House press secretary Jen Psaki delivered an emotional farewell from the briefing room podium Friday afternoon -- expressing thanks to President Joe Biden, her administration colleagues and even the White House press corps. Karine Jean-Pierre began her debut briefing as President Biden’s press secretary on Monday by acknowledging the unusual nature of her presence behind the White House lectern.

The bill will also help replenish Israel’s air defenses, which is even more important following Iran’s brazen and unprecedented attack 10 days ago. And it will help ensure that Israel has what it needs to defend itself against the very real threats it faces from Iran as well as Iran’s proxy groups. And the bill the President signed today and the significant and immediate military aid package he approved one minute later will send Ukraine the supplies that it needs to make a significant different — difference as they continue to fight for their sovereignty and territorial integrity. When Russia began amassing troops on Ukraine’s borders, the President rallied the world to respond to Russia’s aggression.

The President highlighted his uncle’s story as he made the case for honoring our sacred commitment to — to equip those we send to war and to take care of them and their families when they come home. After the Arizona Supreme Court’s ruling paved the way for this Civil War-era ban to go into effect, Republican elected officials tried to dance — to distance themselves from their own extreme agenda to rip away women’s freedom. But when Democratic elected officials in Arizona offered a bill to repeal this arcane law, Republicans said no twice. Giving that option is something, certainly, we support. Obviously, getting vaccinated — they’re free across the country, available across the country — is also a very easy option for many people, and many companies are opting to do that.

A political advisor who served under both the Obama and Biden administrations, she served the Biden administration as the 34th White House press secretary[4] until May 2022. President Biden named Deputy White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre as the next press secretary, the first Black woman to hold the high-profile post.

And throughout the week — but, I mean, not just the week. The press secretary is responsible for collecting information about actions and events within the president's administration and around the world, and interacting with the media, generally in a daily press briefing. The information includes items such as a summary of the president's schedule for the day, whom the president has seen, or had communication and the official position of the administration on the news of the day. This morning, you heard President Biden speak about the critical importance of the national security supplemental, which came to the President’s desk, as we said it would, with overwhelming bipartisan support from the U.S.

And actually, as you know, just in the last couple of weeks, Ukraine has passed a new mobilization law. And, also, the new commander-in-chief, General Syrskyi, has put in place — along with the Defense Minister, Umerov — a series of protocols to increase the number of forces that are being mobilized each month so that Ukraine has the manpower it needs to go along with the capabilities it is now getting. So, sort of setting aside the question of Rafah for the moment, which is a hard question to set aside, there’s going to be a significant amount of humanitarian activity in Khan Younis regardless, as there can and should be in Gaza City as well as we get more aid to the north. But I think really what this weekend showed is that, at the end of the day, despite substantial effort by a lot of parties, including the Russians, to figure out a way to not have this bill pass, it has passed. And I think the message that that sends is that, at the end of the day, when push comes to shove, the United States is going to be there with the resources necessary for Ukraine.

I know you guys have been meeting virtually with Israeli counterparts. But we also believe, as I laid out — maybe in too much detail for some of you — that there are fundamental structural drivers that favor Ukraine here. And part of that is about what the U.S. industrial base can produce. Part of it is about what the Europeans have stepped up to do in really significant ways over the course of the — the last six months. And we are urging them to keep that going, even as the U.S. has delivered $60 billion. Part of that is about the Ukrainian capacity itself.

Cleveland and McKinley administrations

And, you know, we’re happy to have senior-level participation from each of these countries, even though the leaders, each for their own reason, has chosen not to come to Los Angeles. And so, I think there’s no way you can look the substantive outcomes of the summit and find that there is a link between the lack of leader-level representation from those countries and what those countries’ commitments are on the migration question. The second form of incentive is that we’re putting on the table something that a lot of these countries are asking from us, which is labor pathways to the United States for both migrants transiting their countries and for the source countries, from citizens of their home country. In terms of the actual negotiations, I’ll leave it to the two sides to lay out where they are. The United States has made clear that we support the return to those talks, and we’re prepared to take steps if those talks move forward.

Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by today’s senseless violence, particularly those injured and killed, their families, as well as the first respondents. With the New York case overturned on Thursday, Bonjean said her team is considering making a new plea to review the California conviction. And so, obviously the Vice President is going to speak to this. And so, I will let her remarks kind of lay out the — the importance of today.

They are still working — working out the details. And again, he signed an executive action on police — police reform, on measures that we can do from the executive — from the federal — from the federal side of things, from the White House, from the administration. And finally, it’s important for the Senate to move on gun measures.

Q    Quickly, about the meeting today over Rafah — the virtual meeting. Q    So, then why is it that she has not spoken to the President of Guatemala since June? But it’s important to understand that when you — when anybody raises a question about this new CBO score, it is a fake score about a bill that doesn’t exist. And we should really focus on the actual bill everybody is going to vote on and considering in Congress right now.

And while today’s announcement is very good news for Ukraine, they are still under severe pressure on the battlefield, and it is certainly possible that Russia could make additional tactical gains in the coming weeks. And that’s because of the deep reservoir of support there is for Ukraine. And that’s true of Democrats, it’s true of Republicans, it’s true of independents.

What actually happens in those negotiations is something we will see. But there is, in our view, a deal on the table that would effectuate a compliance-for-compliance return to the JCPOA without dealing with extraneous issues. And then, the specific announcements we’re making don’t require new congressional legislation. But more broadly, we are looking to Congress to step up and be a partner on a bipartisan basis on the migration question in a way that they — that we haven’t seen over the course of the last year.
